A Super Heinz calculator is close to essential for this bet: seven selections, 120 bets, and nobody settles that many lines in their head. Every double, treble and upward combination of your seven picks is covered, with no singles, so at £1 a bet the slip costs £120. Plenty of people play it at 10p or 20p a line instead. The calculator above is free and handles any stake.
Super Heinz calculator: the 120 bets
| Part of the bet | Bets |
|---|---|
| 21 doubles | 21 |
| 35 trebles | 35 |
| 35 four-folds | 35 |
| 21 five-folds | 21 |
| 7 six-folds | 7 |
| 1 seven-fold | 1 |
| Total | 120 |
Each way makes it 240 bets. At 50p each way that’s still £120.
What different results pay
Using the seven prices loaded above (5/2, 2/1, 4/1, 3/1, 6/4, 7/2 and 11/4) at £1 a bet:
- Two winners: one double, £10.50. That’s £109.50 down.
- Three winners: £95.50. Still £24.50 short.
- Four winners: £523.50, and now you’re well ahead.
- All seven: £49,349.
So a Super Heinz usually needs four winners from seven to pay, unless the prices are big. It’s a bet for a day when you fancy most of the card, not one where you’ve got a couple of strong picks and some hopefuls. For that, the hopefuls are better off left out.
Each way, non-runners and smaller stakes
Each way adds 120 place bets at the place odds. With two winners and two placed horses at 1/5 odds, the £240 each way version above returns about £46.88. Each way softens a Super Heinz, but it can’t rescue a bad day.
Non-runners count as 1.0, so seven picks with one void settle like a Heinz plus a Lucky 63 on the other six. Mark it void and the calculator works it out. Rule 4 and dead heats are in the extra options.
A tip for stakes: set “total” instead of “per bet” in the stake box and type what you want to spend. £24 total on a Super Heinz is 20p a line. The calculator does the division.
Six picks? Use the Heinz bet calculator. Eight is a Goliath, 247 bets, available in the main bet calculator along with everything from a single upwards.
120 small bets can still be a big stake. Pick a total you’re comfortable losing. BeGambleAware.org is free and confidential if it stops being fun.
