A Lucky 63 calculator saves you from the worst kind of maths: six horses, 63 bets, and a slip that says “returns” with nothing written next to it. The bet covers every possible combination of six selections, from six singles up to one six-fold. At £1 a bet that’s £63 on one slip, and the free calculator above tells you what comes back for any set of results.
It’s loaded with six prices between 7/4 and 4/1, all set as winners. Change any of them to lost, placed or void and the total updates straight away.
Lucky 63 calculator: what you’re actually backing
| Part of the bet | Bets |
|---|---|
| 6 singles | 6 |
| 15 doubles | 15 |
| 20 trebles | 20 |
| 15 four-folds | 15 |
| 6 five-folds | 6 |
| 1 six-fold | 1 |
| Total | 63 |
Each way doubles every one of those, so £1 each way is 126 bets and £126. It’s the same structure as a Heinz with six singles added on top, and that’s where the “Lucky” comes from: because there are singles in it, one winner still pays something.
What it returns with one, two or three winners
Using the prices above (2/1, 5/2, 3/1, 7/4, 4/1 and 9/4) at £1 a bet:
- One winner, the 2/1 shot: £3 back. Just the single.
- Two winners (2/1 and 5/2): £17. Two singles and one double.
- Three winners: £89. The first result that beats the £63 stake.
- Four winners: £336.50.
- All six: £8,605.25.
That jump from £89 to £336.50 is the whole appeal. You need roughly half your picks to land at these prices just to get your money back, but every extra winner multiplies into dozens of bets at once.
Bonuses, each way and non-runners
A lot of bookies sweeten a Lucky 63 with a consolation if only one selection wins, usually double the odds on that single. Some also add a percentage when all six win. Both are under “Rule 4, dead heats and bonuses”. With the double-odds offer, that lone 2/1 winner pays £5 instead of £3. Still a heavy loss on £63, but less of one.
Each way is where a Lucky 63 can quietly get you out of trouble. Two winners and two placed horses at 1/5 odds, £1 each way, returns £52.66 on a £126 stake. Not a profit, but the place half picks up bets the win half misses.
A non-runner is settled as void: odds of 1.0 in every bet it’s part of. Its single just returns the stake, and the six-fold quietly becomes a five-fold.
One pick fewer is a Lucky 31. Without the singles you have a Heinz, and with seven picks it’s a Super Heinz. Every bet type sits in the main bet calculator.
63 stakes go on in one go. Work out the total before the slip goes in. BeGambleAware.org is free and confidential if it stops being fun.
