Set For Life number generator: the odds behind a line

The top prize, paid monthly for 30 years, needs all five main numbers plus the Life Ball. There are 1,533,939 ways to pick five numbers from 47, and ten possible Life Balls, so each line has a 1 in 15,339,390 chance.

That’s roughly nine times better than EuroMillions, though of course the prize is smaller. Match all five main numbers without the Life Ball and there’s a second tier paid over a shorter period. The lower prizes start at just two main numbers.

A few lines that don’t overlap

If you play several lines each draw, it’s worth making them different from each other. Two lines that share four numbers mostly win or lose together. Tick “No two lines share more than two numbers” under Your own rules and the generator keeps your lines spread across the board.

You can also fix a number you always play. Put it in “Always include” and every line will have it, with the other four main numbers random.

The numbers come from your browser’s built-in secure random generator, the same kind used for encryption. Every combination is exactly as likely as every other, so a generated line is no better or worse than one you choose yourself. What it does do is stop you picking the same birthdays as thousands of other players.

Playing more than one game? The lottery number generator covers eleven lotteries on one page, and the lottery odds calculator works out the chance of every prize tier.

A prize for 30 years is the dream. The odds say play it lightly. BeGambleAware.org is free and confidential if it stops being fun.
