A roulette wheel chart shows where every number sits on the wheel and on the table, and what each bet pays. The European wheel has 37 pockets, 0 to 36. The American wheel has 38, with an extra 00. The calculator above is free and gives the odds, payout and house edge for any bet you pick. The charts below are the reference.
Roulette wheel numbers in order
European wheel (single zero)
Clockwise from zero:
0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25, 17, 34, 6, 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33, 1, 20, 14, 31, 9, 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26
Red and black alternate all the way round, and the order is chosen so that high and low, odd and even, are spread as evenly as possible. Add up every number on the wheel and you get 666, which is why roulette is sometimes called the devil’s wheel.
American wheel (double zero)
0, 28, 9, 26, 30, 11, 7, 20, 32, 17, 5, 22, 34, 15, 3, 24, 36, 13, 1, 00, 27, 10, 25, 29, 12, 8, 19, 31, 18, 6, 21, 33, 16, 4, 23, 35, 14, 2
0 and 00 sit opposite each other, and numbers next to each other on the wheel are mostly far apart on the table.
Roulette colours
Red: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 30, 32, 34, 36.
Black: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 31, 33, 35.
Green: 0, and 00 on an American wheel.
A quick way to remember it: from 1 to 10 and 19 to 28, odd numbers are red. From 11 to 18 and 29 to 36, even numbers are red.
Roulette table layout
The table has three columns of twelve numbers. The first column is 1, 4, 7 up to 34, the second is 2, 5, 8 up to 35, and the third is 3, 6, 9 up to 36. Zero sits at the top, across all three. The outside bets run along the edge: the three dozens (1–12, 13–24, 25–36), 1–18 and 19–36, even and odd, red and black.
Roulette payout chart
| Bet | Numbers | Pays | Chance (European) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Straight up | 1 | 35 to 1 | 2.70% |
| Split | 2 | 17 to 1 | 5.41% |
| Street | 3 | 11 to 1 | 8.11% |
| Corner | 4 | 8 to 1 | 10.81% |
| Six line | 6 | 5 to 1 | 16.22% |
| Dozen or column | 12 | 2 to 1 | 32.43% |
| Red/black, odd/even, high/low | 18 | 1 to 1 | 48.65% |
Every one of these has the same 2.70% house edge on a European wheel, and 5.26% on an American one. A £10 bet loses 27p on average however you place it. The one exception is the American five-number bet (0, 00, 1, 2, 3), which pays 6 to 1 and has a 7.89% edge.
