Deck
The deck is shuffled with your browser's secure random generator, so every card and every order is equally likely.
The random card generator draws from a properly shuffled deck of 52 playing cards. Each card has a 1 in 52 chance, 1.92%, of coming out first, and any ace has a 4 in 52 chance, 7.69%. Pick one card, or deal up to 20 at a time. It’s free, and it keeps a list of what’s already gone so you can see what’s left.
Random card generator settings
- Cards per draw: 1 for “pick a card”, 5 for a poker hand, 13 for a bridge hand.
- Decks: up to 8, the way a blackjack shoe is built. With 6 decks there are 24 aces in 312 cards, the same 7.69% per card.
- Jokers: add two per deck if your game uses them.
- Put cards back: off by default, so cards leave the deck as they’re dealt, just like a real one. Turn it on and every draw comes from a full deck.
Why one shuffle is almost certainly new
There are 52! ways to order a deck, about 8 followed by 67 zeros. Shuffle once and you’ve almost certainly made an order nobody has ever seen. The generator uses your browser’s secure random numbers to pick that order, so no card is more likely than another and no sequence repeats on purpose.
With cards out of the deck, the odds change as you go. Draw four cards with no ace and the chance the next one is an ace rises from 4 in 52 to 4 in 48, 8.3%. That’s the idea behind card counting, which you can practise in the card counting trainer.
Things people use it for
Magic tricks over video calls, drinking games, picking a forfeit, deciding who deals first (high card wins), or teaching a child what a flush looks like. For poker hands and what beats what, see the poker hand rankings. To practise real decisions with the cards, the blackjack trainer deals full hands.
As a random poker card generator, deal two cards per player and five for the board. To see who’d win, paste them into the poker hand winner calculator.
