Fixtures
A round robin generator writes the fixture list where everyone plays everyone once. Six teams need 5 rounds and 15 games, three games a round. Seven teams take 7 rounds, because each round someone sits out with a bye. The free generator above builds the whole schedule, swaps home and away so no team is at home every week, and can spread games over a set number of pitches.
Round robin generator: how the fixtures are made
It uses the circle method, the same way leagues have done it on paper for a century. Write the teams in two rows, fix the first one in place and rotate everyone else one step each round. Every pair meets exactly once and nobody plays twice in a round.
| Teams | Rounds | Games | Byes per round |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 3 | 6 | 0 |
| 5 | 5 | 10 | 1 |
| 6 | 5 | 15 | 0 |
| 8 | 7 | 28 | 0 |
| 10 | 9 | 45 | 0 |
| 12 | 11 | 66 | 0 |
The number of games is n × (n − 1) ÷ 2. Tick “double round robin” and it doubles, with the second half reversing home and away, the way most football leagues run a season.
Using it for a real event
- Pitches or boards: set how many games can run at once and each game gets a time slot and pitch number.
- Shuffle: mixes the order so the first names on your list don’t always play each other first.
- Print or copy: paste the list into a group chat or stick it on the clubhouse wall.
Not to be confused with a Round Robin bet, which is ten bets on three selections: the round robin bet calculator settles that one. For knockout events use the bracket generator, and to split a group into sides first, the random team generator.
Running a whole season instead of a single day? The fixture generator adds dates and a live table, and the league table generator turns typed results into standings.
