Tap Spin to pick one.
What's on the wheel
Winners so far
The wheel of names picks one name from your list with a spin. Paste in a class, a team or the office, tap Spin, and every name has the same chance: with 10 names that’s 10% each. It’s free, it works on any phone, and “remove the winner” is already switched on, so you can draw names one after another until everyone has had their turn.
How to use the wheel of names
- Add names, one per line, up to 100. Copy a column from a spreadsheet and paste it straight in.
- Spin. Tap the centre or the wheel. The pointer lands on the winner, and it’s added to the list of winners below.
- Keep going. With “remove the winner” on, that name drops off and the wheel shrinks. Ten spins of a 10-name wheel give a complete random order.
Want to keep everyone on the wheel, for a daily stand-up or a “who’s making the tea” spin? Untick “remove the winner” and each spin is a fresh draw from the full list.
Is the wheel of names fair?
Yes. The winner is picked by your browser’s secure random generator before the wheel moves, and the spin then lands on that slice. Spinning harder or at a different moment doesn’t change anything. A name that came up last time has the same chance on the next spin, unless you take it off.
If a name appears twice on the list, it gets two slices and twice the chance. That’s handy for weighting: someone who bought two raffle entries can go on twice.
Ideas for a name wheel
- Choosing who answers next in a lesson, so it’s not always the same hands up.
- Picking a Secret Santa order, a quiz team captain or the next person to present.
- Drawing a prize winner on a live stream, where everyone can watch the spin.
Need several names at once, or to split a group into teams? The random name picker does that in one tap. For anything other than names, use spin the wheel.
Spinning numbers instead of names? Use the number wheel, which fills itself from any range.
Drawing names for presents? Use the Secret Santa generator, which keeps couples apart too.
