Unlike Lotto 6/49, BC/49 has fixed prizes in every tier, so you know what each match pays before the draw.
A year of BC/49
With draws every Wednesday and Saturday, one play each draw is 104 plays a year. That’s a 1 in 134,460 chance a year of the top prize. Put another way, you’d wait about 134,000 years on average. Prizes of $10 or more turn up around twice a year.
On average, a $1 play returns about 50 cents: roughly 14 cents from the $2 million prize and 36 cents from the fixed tiers. Shared jackpots pull that down a little.
Extra
Extra is a separate add-on with its own four numbers from 1 to 99. Its top prize of $500,000 is 1 in 3,764,376. It’s settled on its own, so it doesn’t change the odds above.
For the national game, see the Lotto 6/49 odds calculator. The lottery reality check puts any jackpot into years of play.
