Your wheel
Your lines
A wheel spreads your numbers over several lines. It never changes the odds of a single line, it only decides how your lines overlap.
A lottery wheel generator spreads a pool of your favourite numbers across several lines so they’re covered in a planned way. Pick 10 numbers for UK Lotto and a full wheel plays every 6-number line you can make from them: 210 lines. A “3 if 3” abbreviated wheel does it in 10 lines, and still guarantees that if any 3 drawn numbers are among your 10, at least one line has all 3. It’s free, and the generator checks that guarantee for every wheel it builds.
Full and abbreviated lottery wheels
- Full wheel: every combination of your numbers. If all six winning numbers are in your pool, you have the jackpot line. Costly: 10 numbers is 210 lines, 12 numbers is 924.
- Abbreviated wheel (“t if t”): fewer lines, with a smaller promise. “4 if 4” means if 4 of the drawn numbers are in your pool, one line has all 4. For 10 numbers in a 6-ball game, that takes 24 lines here.
The generator builds abbreviated wheels by adding, one at a time, the line that covers the most groups not yet covered. Published wheels for some sizes are a line or two shorter. What matters is that the guarantee is real, and the check under the lines confirms it.
What a wheel can and can’t do
A wheel never improves the odds of any single line. UK Lotto is 6 from 59: 45,057,474 possible lines. Ten lines give you a 1 in 4,505,747 chance at the jackpot in each round whether they’re wheeled or picked at random. A full 210-line wheel is 1 in 214,559 per round, exactly what 210 different random lines would give. Lotto now plays every line in two rounds, so both figures are roughly halved per draw, wheel or no wheel.
What a wheel changes is how wins arrive. Lines that share numbers tend to win together, so a wheel trades many draws with nothing for the odd draw with several smaller wins. And the guarantee only applies when the winning numbers fall in your pool. With 10 numbers in a 6 from 59 draw, at least 3 of the 6 winners land in your pool only 5.5% of the time.
Who uses lottery wheels?
Mostly syndicates. A group pooling £40 a draw can play 20 UK Lotto lines either at random or as a wheel on a shared set of numbers. Neither is “better” on average, but a wheel makes sure the numbers everyone wanted are all in play together. Copy or print the lines and share them with the group.
To see the odds of each prize, use the lottery odds calculator. For random lines, the lottery number generator is quicker.
