The NZ Lotto odds calculator shows the odds in New Zealand’s Saturday and Wednesday draws. You pick 6 numbers from 40. Match all six for Lotto First Division: 1 in 3,838,380 per line. Add the Powerball, one number from 10, and you’ve won Powerball First Division at 1 in 38,383,800. The free calculator above takes any match, with or without the bonus ball and Powerball.
NZ Lotto odds for every match
Lotto draws six numbers and a bonus ball from one barrel of 40. The Powerball comes from its own barrel of 10, and only counts if your line also wins a Lotto division.
| Match | Odds per line |
|---|---|

| 3 + bonus ball | 1 in 404 |
| 3 + Powerball | 1 in 352 |
| 3 | 1 in 39.1 |
For m matches: C(6, m) × C(34, 6 − m) ÷ C(40, 6), split by the bonus ball, then × 1/10 or × 9/10 for the Powerball.
Good odds by world standards
With only 40 numbers, Lotto First Division is one of the easiest national jackpots anywhere. It’s about 3.6 times easier than Lotto 6/49 in Canada and nearly 6 times easier than a UK Lotto line, even with Lotto’s two rounds. Powerball adds the long-shot jackpot on top.
One line every draw for 20 years gives about a 1 in 1,850 chance of Lotto First Division. The “Draws you play” box does the sum for your own habits.
For other countries, the lottery odds calculator covers 14 games, and which lottery has the best odds ranks them.
