Earlier rolls
This DnD dice roller does the full set: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and percentile d100. Tap a die, set how many and your modifier, and roll. For a d20 you can roll with advantage or disadvantage, and a natural 20 or natural 1 lights up. It’s free, it runs in your browser, and every roll uses your device’s secure random generator, so it’s as fair as a real die and less likely to roll under the sofa.
Using the DnD dice roller
- Quick dice. Tap d20, leave how many at 1, put +5 in the modifier. That’s your attack roll.
- Advantage and disadvantage. Roll two d20s and keep the higher or lower. The one you didn’t keep is shown faded so the table can see both.
- Notation. Type exactly what the spell says: 8d6 for a fireball, 1d8+1d6+4 for a sneak attack, 4d6kh3 for a stat roll (keep highest 3). Dropped dice are crossed out.
The last ten rolls stay in the history, which settles most “what did you roll?” arguments.
Advantage, in numbers
Advantage is worth more than people think. Needing 15 or better on a d20 is 30% normally. With advantage it’s 51%. A natural 20 goes from 5% to 9.75%, and with disadvantage it falls to 0.25%, one in 400.
A rough rule: advantage is worth about +5 when you need a 10 or 11, and less at the extremes. It’s the same maths as two chances at a lottery, just with better odds.
Rolling up a new character? The DnD stat roller does all six ability scores at once. For plain dice, use the dice roller, and for averages and ranges of any roll, the dice average calculator. Wargamers will want the Warhammer dice calculator.
